Hard to choose, I got my 1st 3 volumes of Hellboy back in '00-'01 when on deployment to to Gulf. Was mesmerized by the story and the art. Don't remember the issues, but when Hellboy is to fulfill his fate and unlock the door to hell with his hand. But Hellboy is raised as an American, and we don't do anything we don't want to do. So he says "No" and bust those horns off. The 3 wiseman are baffled that he could choose and then to say no... Why that was just perfect! Read that almost 14 years ago, still see the frame of him breaking his horns off.
We at Madefire are REALLY excited to bring this series to Motion Books! And I'm so excited I'll personally buy you a copy if you share with us, on this thread, your favorite Hellboy issue/moment and why. First 2 to respond get the points!
My favorite issue was probably Hellboy: Strange Places. It starts with Hellboy sitting next to this old african dude named Mohlomi, who shares his cigar with him while they chat about Anansi and stuff by the fire outside Mohlomi's hut. Great scene, great story, also one of the last Hellboy books to be illustrated by Mignola...until now!
